In “Painless”, he states his opinion that suicide is rarely a solution. Kutner questions him, convinced that anyone so totally opposed to it must carry some sort of baggage related to it. Taub later tells Kutner that a colleague of his as soon as attempted suicide and though he survived, his household and associates had been deeply disturbed. When Kutner asks if it was in fact Taub who tried suicide, Taub denies it; however, when House assumes the same thing in “Simple Explanation”, he does not.
