Dutch fast-charging network operator Fastned is searching for a new chief financial officer after Victor van Dijk, who has held the role since 2019, moves to a newly created position as vice president of strategy.

Van Dijk shifts focus to long-term vision

Van Dijk will leave the executive board but remain part of Fastned’s leadership team, reporting directly to the board. His new responsibilities include shaping the company’s long-term vision, setting strategic priorities, and refining its equity story for capital markets. He will work closely with the executive board and leadership team to align network development, pricing, equipment, and technology with financial and investment logic.

Fastned CEO Michiel Langezaal credited van Dijk with transforming the company into a trusted partner for institutional investors. During his tenure, Fastned secured a €150 million equity raise in 2021, a €75 million strategic investment from Schroders Capital’s infrastructure fund in 2022, and a €200 million bank financing deal with a consortium of European financial institutions.

“Victor was a key architect of these achievements,” Langezaal said. “In his new role, he will refocus on the company’s strategic priorities and equity narrative with a 2030 horizon, while a new CFO will handle operational financial management as Fastned works toward profitability.”

Interim CFO appointed as search begins

Fastned has already launched the search for van Dijk’s successor. In the meantime, Remco Samuels, who joined the company’s finance department six months ago, will serve as interim CFO. Samuels previously led EVBox as CEO and held senior financial roles at Engie.

Van Dijk expressed enthusiasm for the transition, calling Fastned’s current phase “an exciting inflection point.” He noted that the company’s funding foundations are now in place and its network is expanding. “The opportunity in front of us is enormous and historic,” he said. “I’m thrilled to take on this new challenge, working more directly on the long-term strategic questions that will define Fastned’s future.”

The company did not disclose a timeline for hiring the new CFO but indicated that Samuels’ experience in both financial leadership and the electric vehicle industry made him a strong fit for the interim role.
