The consortium will be showing a range of models that meet the MoD’s LMV requirements at next week’s DVD2026 show.

Ineos has revealed a range of vehicles based around the Grenadier 4×4 that could go into service with the British Army. The Team Grenadier consortium is bidding to develop a new range of Light Mobility Vehicles (LMVs) for the Ministry of Defence.

The group includes Ineos Automotive alongside specialists such as SMT Defence, NMS UK, Hobson Industries and TVS Supply Chain Solutions. They aim to provide exceptional in-service support to the British Military, ensuring vehicles remain mission-ready throughout their operational life.

Vehicle Lineup

The consortium will be showing a range of models that meet the MoD’s LMV requirements at next week’s DVD2026 show. This exhibition, dedicated to the defence industry, takes place at UTAC Millbrook in Bedfordshire.

The highlight will be the new Grenadier Multi-Role Light Vehicle, or MRLV. This is a modular LMV application based on the Grenadier 4×4’s steel ladder frame, solid beam axles and BMW-supplied powertrain. The MRLV offers exceptional cross-country mobility, outstanding durability and straightforward maintenance, making it ideally suited to long-term military service.

Consortium’s Bid

Team Grenadier has developed nine modular LMV applications, all derived from the road-going Grenadier. These include an Enhanced Protection Vehicle (EPV) and a General-Purpose Vehicle (GPV). The variety of models demonstrates the versatility of the Grenadier 4×4 platform and its potential to meet the diverse needs of the British Army.

Mike Whittington, chief commercial officer of Ineos Automotive, said that Hobsons and TVS SCS bring considerable military understanding, commercial best practice and proven programme delivery.

Together, they can deliver operational resilience, scalability and exceptional in-service support required by the MoD throughout the operational lifetime of the Grenadiers, while backing domestic industry and creating and supporting UK jobs.

The British Army’s LMV programme is a £2 billion procurement competition to replace the MoD’s retiring Land Rover and Pinzgauer fleets. It includes contenders such as JLR, Babcock International and a consortium that includes Ford, GDLS-UK and Ricardo. The competition is expected to be fierce, with contracts running from May 2027 until May 2036, making it a significant opportunity for the winning bidder.
