Proton unveiled the 2027 Proton S70 RS with quad tailpipes and red trim.

Proton has unveiled the 2027 Proton S70 RS, a facelifted version of the segment-straddling sedan. The S70 RS gains a new interior and a sporty top variant with quad tailpipes and red trim.

The new variant features a bespoke grille that ditches the chrome surround and expands beyond the headlights. The grille is joined by a boxier X-shaped bumper with a full-width, bone-shaped insert and red strips.

A gloss black splitter has been added underneath the bumper, while the rear features a redesigned rear bumper with fake corner vents and a redesigned valance with the same honeycomb pattern and X50-style quad tailpipes.

Design and Features

The S70 RS also features black side skirts with red strips, a gloss black finish for the roof, door mirrors, door handles, and window trim, and new 17-inch grey alloy wheels that hide red brake callipers.

Inside, the RS gains a completely redesigned dashboard similar to the also-facelifted X50. The dashboard features a slimmer 8.88-inch instrument display and a much larger 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen.

The centre console has been carried over from the new fifth-generation Emgrand, specifically the Emgrand L EM-i plug-in hybrid. The console features new rectangular air vents, twin smartphone trays with a driver’s side Qi wireless charger, and a Proton eMas 7-style control knob.

Performance and Specifications

The S70 RS is powered by the same 1.5 litre i-GT turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and gets from zero to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

While the S70 RS looks sportier than ever before, it brings no actual added performance to the table. The variant will likely replace the Flagship in the S70’s lineup, and the Premium will be retained with the same redesign but without the bodykit and red highlights.

Proton will present the S70 RS at a fashion showcase by a renowned local fashion designer on November 10. They have yet to confirm pricing or when the RS will be launched, but it will be sold concurrently with the NA variants that carry over the MC1’s unchanged styling.

Considering the updates to the S70 RS, it is likely that the new variant will appeal to customers looking for a sportier sedan. The addition of advanced driver assistance systems to the lower-priced variant would also be a welcome update.

They are using a unique approach to showcase the car’s features and design. The S70 RS will be showcased in a unique setting, allowing potential buyers to see the car in a different light.
